TCN Groningen

History

In 2006 TCN bought a company named SIG (founded in 1947) from the municipality of Groningen. Originally a foundation of the municipality of Groningen, SIG stimulated the industry in and around Groningen. When the Dutch government decided to reduce their commercial activities, the municipality was forced to sell the SIG portfolio to a commercial company. TCN purchased the SIG portfolio, which was very diverse, ranging from offices and glass fiber participations to social dividend projects.

TCN restructured the portfolio, sold what didn’t fit in the TCN philosophy and kept or even expanded the portfolio by adding redevelopments of business parks and TCN Data Hotels. TCN Groningen has a strong focus on redeveloping existing buildings and urban areas.

Our projects

The TCN Groningen track record includes beautiful transformations such as the Mediacentrale. This old energy plant in Groningen was transformed into a state-of-the-art office, meeting and convention space. It’s a project we’re still very proud of. Important current projects include the TCN Data Hotels (with datacenters in Groningen, Eemshaven and Hilversum) and the redevelopment of business park O-four.
