Early May TCN delivered a community college building called Flowamsterdam in a prime location opposite the RAI exhibition center to the ROC of Amsterdam and GREEN Real Estate investor. This newly constructed building will accommodate sixteen college programs from the ROC of Amsterdam and various companies and institutions on the ground and first floor of the building.
The total size of the building is 35,000 sqm, of which 9,000 sqm of commercial space and 21,000 sqm education facilities. The building will also include a supermarket, fitness center and restaurant, first of which will open their doors before the summer. The college programs will move over to the new building gradually, starting in May.
With 35,000 students the ROC of Amsterdam is already one of the largest 'suppliers' of college professionals in the region. By introducing the new community college concept, the organization wants to further improve the quality of their education. Important to the building is that it facilitates meeting between education and business, creating a unique 21st century learning concept.
Commercial parties who decide to settle in this building, therefore commit themselves to a long term relationship with the ROC. This gives all parties a huge added value. Flowamsterdam was built on a prominent location in front of the RAI exhibition center. The building comprises two parts which are connected. The school section of the building includes classrooms, studios and practice rooms, gymnasiums and a large auditorium. The ground and first floor are used by several commercial tenants.
End 2012 TCN will start the realization of a second community college. The size of this building is 9,000 sqm, of which 7,000 sqm educational facilities and 2,000 sqm commercial space. This building will also be located at ‘Kop Zuidas’.
