Redevelopment Centraal Beheer Apeldoorn

Centraal Beheer Apeldoorn is being redeveloped. The former headquarters of Centraal Beheer Achmea are located in an award-winning building in Apeldoorn. TCN bought this building in 2007 and will, after the departure of Centraal Beheer Achmea to a new location mid 2013, redevelop it.

One of the first new functions the building will get is an Atoomclub.

History
This internationally renowned building by architect Herman Hertzberger has a special place in postwar architectural history. Inspired by the wave of democratization in the late sixties, Hertzberger designed an extremely innovative office environment to give employees a feeling of home and to facilitate meeting and interaction. The building consists of 56 cubic elements and is designed like a city under one roof. It has an anti-hierarchical structure and consists of open spaces with intervening voids. Like many Hertzberger buildings, the building is characterized by a lively, almost playful look with great freedom of movement.

The 1973 building has proved timeless. Today, we see an increasing demand for meeting and interaction. The open floor plans fit seamlessly with this need. Future users can become part of this open structure, but the building has ample space for organizations to create their own space as well.

Future
One of the first functions that this 40,000 sqm building will get is an Atoomclub, a flexible office environment for small and growing businesses.

The Atoomclub is one of TCN’s latest concepts. It meets the growing demand for an inspiring working environment at flexible conditions. The Atoomclub is a club for small and growing companies. It’s a place where people can work in a professional environment and meet other Atoomclub members. The Atoomclub contracts are very flexible. Members pay a fixed, low price, for which they can use all available facilities. Unlimited, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It’s possible to get a contract for a single desk starting from one month. Atoomclub members share the facilities the building has and are also allowed to use the facilities in other Atoomclubs.

The Atoomclub concept has proven to be very successful, with Atoomclub Utrecht almost fully leased only one year after opening. A second Atoomclub was opened in Rotterdam in February 2012. TCN is planning to expand to other cities and regions in the near future, including Apeldoorn.
